Our pedigree has begun and continues with mining infrastructure projects.
Additional projects in the recent past include:
In May 2006 MCK commenced operations for Metorex at their Ruashi Mine in Lubumbashi, DRC. Metorex, a well-known South African mining house listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, was in January 2012 bought by the Jinchuan Group Limited (JNMC). As a result of this Metorex delisted and does not exist anymore. JNMC retained all of the management and the operation still runs as it has been since early 2006. Ruashi Mining SPRL now operates as a fully owned subsidiary of JNMC JNMC are a large integrated non-ferrous, metallurgical and engineering enterprise based in the industrial city of Jinchang in the Gansu Province of China. They are engaged in mining, concentrating, metallurgical and chemical engineering and produce nickel, copper, cobalt, rare and precious metals as well as chemical products.
AMCK started its life in the Congo as Anvil Mining Limited. Headquartered in Toronto, Canada AML owned and operated the Dikulushi concession located on the banks of Lake Moero in Katanga Province. MCK started contracting to Anvil at Dikulushi in November 2003 and continued until underground operations took over in January 2007, at which point MCK moved to the Kinsevere concession where Anvil had formed a separate joint venture with MCK. The company was known as AMCK and was a wholly owned subsidiary of Anvil. In January 2012 Minmetals Resources Limited (MMG), a mid-tier global resources company that mines explores and develops base metals projects around the globe, bought Anvil Mining Limited. AML ceased to exist and MMG now own and operate this concession.
In 2009 Canadian listed company Mawson West (MW) bought 87% of the Dikulushi Mining Convention from Anvil Mining Limited (AML), AML retained the remaining 13%, which now belongs to MMG as part of the AML purchase agreement. MW up to this time has operated the mine under the registered name of Anvil Mining Company (SARL) but is in the process of changing the name to CMCC. The AML underground operations that commenced in January 2007 proved unsuccessful and in November 2011 MW contracted MCK to open up the pit once more and mine the remainder of the ore body as an opencast operation. MW are in the process of developing another concession, located just North of Dikulushi at Kapulo. Mining operations will commence at Kapulo in 2013.
Chemaf Chemaf are the single largest owner of mining concessions in the Province of Katanga, they total 86 and are at various stages of exploration and development. Their main operation is just outside Lubumbashi at Etoile Mine, which is responsible for feeding ore to their Usoke SX/EW plant.
In 2008 Tiger Mining, an Australian company listed on the Australian and Canadian stock exchange formed a joint venture with Gecamines, a Congolese government company, for the exploration and exploitation of various tenements in and around an area just North of Lubumbashi called Kipoi. MCK commenced mining operations in August 2010 and after a few months of waste stripping are now well into excavation of one of the richest ore bodies in DRC. SEK have been actively drilling and proving up various other deposits in the immediate vicinity and have plans to be producing in the region of sixty thousand tons of copper/annum by 2015.
Huachin have been represented in DRC for around 8 years and during that time they have identified a number of concessions for exploration and subsequent exploitation. Presently they are busy with the development of Mabende, a large concession located just North of Lubumbashi not far from Kipoi. MCK commenced mining operations here in August 2011 and have already made significant in-roads into the ore body, which is excavated and delivered to the purpose built DMS plant. The ore from the DMS is then transferred to the nearby town of Likasi where they have constructed an SX/EW plant with the present capacity to produce twelve thousand tons of copper/annum. Through the remainder of 2012 and into 2013 they will be increasing their capacity to twenty-four thousand tons of copper/annum.
